We are responsible for a string of recent successes including Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, Dead Space Ignition, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, OutRun Online Arcade, Formula 1 2009, and Hasbro Family Game Night 3.

2012 is going to be an awesome year for Sumo - we are currently working on a number of unannounced but extraordinarily exciting AAA games across all formats and we're looking for team members with the drive, passion and ambition that will help us make those games the best they can be.

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Graphic Designer who is skilled in both graphic and user interface (UI) design to join our exceptional UI team. This represents an opportunity to have real creative input into some of the world's most exciting and recognisable video games.

Person Specification

You will be a highly creative Graphic Designer with at least five years' experience, an obvious passion for your work, and an exciting portfolio of original work from a variety of media with a bias towards digital. Your work will show communication of ideas through unique and inspired design. Your broad range of influences and ability to think laterally will show a different perspective and new and exciting ways to tackle a brief. You will be passionate about good graphic design and love computer games.

Position Responsibilities

• Design, creation and implementation of 2D graphics to complement game systems.
• Organization and maintenance of game-ready assets for use in user interfaces, such as textures, icons, and fonts.
• Creation and revision of mock-ups to establish user interface direction.
• Colaboration with other UI artists on visual consistency.
• Working closely with Design direction to ensure clear communication of essential information to the player.
• Working closely with UI programmers to ensure correct functionality and visual fidelity.

Skills/Qualifications

• Strong portfolio developed over a minimum of five years showing strong artistic and graphic design layout skills and a high level of originality and creativity
• Experience in shipped games titles or a strong desire to move into games after a wealth of experience and strong portfolio gained in other creative fields.
• Excellent understanding of visual communication and typography.
• A ‘can do' attitude towards new creative and technical challenges.
• Strong knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and at least one timeline based package (Flash, After Effects).
• Ability to work to individual and team deadlines.
• Willing to put in any extra hours required to hit deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate within a large group/multiple project environment.
• Working knowledge of a 3D package is a bonus but not a requirement.
