Position Title: Art Editor, Medikidz

Reports to: Production Director

Position Summary:

Medikidz Ltd is a fast-expanding multimedia company set up to explain medicine to children in a way they can understand.

With an endorsement by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as well as leading health specialists, 2012 looks to be a very exciting year in the development of the brand.

Every day, millions of children are diagnosed with diseases that they have very little understanding of.

Medikidz aims to address the current paucity of medical information available to children, by explaining disease pathophysiology and pharmacology in a fun, exciting and novel way.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual with comic book knowledge to join our team. 

Primary responsibilities:

• Liaise with the comic art studios to ensure high quality of work is delivered.
• Setting timelines for projects and enforcing deadlines to ensure projects are delivered on time.
•  Liaising with authors (doctors), art studios and the internal sales team and management with an end goal of creating high quality books.
• Graphic design experience (Photoshop and InDesign essential).
•  Working closely with the Editor in Chief to ensure medical text and illustrations are aligned, accurate and consistent with the Medikidz brand.
•  Sourcing new art suppliers and critiquing work samples.
• Giving detailed feedback to the studios about each stage of the art – thumbnails, pencils, colours etc.

Skill requirements:

        Time management skills.

• Strong attention to detail – in particular to comic layouts.
• A quick learner.
• Excellent written and verbal communicationincluding the ability to provide clear direction.
• Self-motivated, organized, conscientious and flexible.
• Ability to work as a team member.
• Adjust easily to changing priorities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with comic books is essential.
