We are currently recruiting for a Fabric Designer to join a world-renowned Fashion House in Central London on a temp-to-perm basis. The Designer will research fabrics for both men's and women's designs and will have experience of working on fabric development.
Preferably coming from a first line, the designer will have considerable, demonstrable experience in a similar role a strong understanding of technical garment construction. As well as having knowledge of the European and Asian Fabric Markets, it is essential that candidates have direct experience working with Italian Mills and a good grasp of the Italian language.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
· Research of all fabrics woven and jersey for 4 collections a year.
· Research and development of all trims both new, novelty and ability to update and develop carry over to create identity and consistency
· Sourcing all fabrics and visiting mills. Finding potential new mills and broadening company resources.
· Research. Finding inspirational research, vintage fabric, designs and details, print and embroidery ideas.
· Developing colour palette. Lab dips for sampling and production. Maintaining colour archive.
· Sending clear, collection support material and instructions.
· Creation of all prints, jacquards, woven developments.
· Developing print designs .Creating freehand patterns. Playing with designs and putting into repeat. Generating color artwork. Passing print programs to mills and correcting strike offs. Passing novelty ideas to mills for woven development and trials.
· Negotiating print prices and establishing production solutions whilst keeping to budget.
· Liaising with Italian factories and all suppliers daily, to ensure successful production of entire sample collection. Maintaining accurate documents and records of support material.
· Passing artwork, layouts and instructions to Indian embroiderers
· Developing special trims for 4 collections per year.
· Utilise relationships with mills to support on deliveries if and when required.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
· 5-7 years experience
· Optimum technical knowledge of fabrics
· Established contacts with mills and ability to source new
· Very good understanding of the brand
· Very creative with a commercial sensibility
