ABOUT

In collaboration with the new Brixton House theatre in London, British-Nigerian artist Damilola Odusote has created an impressive new artwork that sprawls across three floors, inspired by Brixton’s rich history.
Wrapping around the building’s entrance, escalators, even the lift doors, Odusote combines themes of race, identity, music, and art, taking guests on a playful journey through past and present Brixton.
The 212m2 piece took four weeks to draw - by hand. It was illustrated entirely in pen, freestyle, with no pre-drawings or mockups. Sharp-eyed visitors are encouraged to find meaningful moments and entities within the mural; from the Brixton riots to Electric Avenue, theatregoers are likely to discover previously unearthed meaning within the expansive artwork upon every visit.
